Daily Checks

Daily Cleanliness Checks:

  1. Interior Cleanliness:

    • Seats and upholstery: Check for stains, dirt, and debris; ensure they are wiped down and cleaned.

    • Carpets and floor mats: Vacuum and clean to remove any dirt or debris.

    • Dashboard and controls: Dust and wipe down all surfaces.

    • Door handles and armrests: Clean and sanitize.

    • Windows and mirrors (inside): Check for smudges or dirt and clean if necessary.

    • Air vents: Ensure they are dust-free and unobstructed.

    • Luggage area/boot: Ensure it is clean and free of unnecessary items or debris.

    • Sanitization products: Ensure hand sanitizers or wipes are available for passengers.

  2. Exterior Cleanliness:

    • Bodywork: Check for any dirt, mud, or grime; wash the vehicle as needed.

    • Windows and mirrors (outside): Clean all glass surfaces, ensuring visibility is clear.

    • Lights (exterior): Check that all lights (headlights, tail lights, indicators) are clean and free from obstructions.

    • Tyre rims and hubcaps: Check for cleanliness, particularly around the wheels.

    • Number plates: Ensure both front and rear plates are clearly visible and clean.

 

Daily Roadworthiness Checks:

  1. Exterior:

    • Tyres:

      • Check tyre pressure to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications.

      • Inspect tyre tread depth (must be above the legal limit of 1.6mm).

      • Look for any signs of damage, such as cuts, bulges, or uneven wear.

    • Lights and Indicators:

      • Check that all lights (headlights, brake lights, indicators, reverse lights) are working properly.

    • Windscreen and Wipers:

      • Inspect the windscreen for cracks or chips.

      • Test wipers to ensure they are functioning and not worn out.

      • Check washer fluid levels and top up if necessary.

    • Mirrors:

      • Check both side mirrors and the rear view mirror for any damage and ensure they are clean.

    • Brakes:

      • Test the brakes to ensure they are responsive and there are no unusual noises.

      • Check the brake fluid levels.

    • Exhaust System:

      • Inspect for any visible leaks or signs of damage.

      • Listen for unusual noises when the engine is running, as this could indicate a problem.

  2. Under the Hood:

    • Engine Oil:

      • Check the oil level using the dipstick and top up if needed.

      • Ensure there are no visible leaks under the vehicle.

    • Coolant Level:

      • Ensure the coolant level is between the minimum and maximum marks.

    • Brake Fluid:

      • Check the brake fluid reservoir to ensure levels are sufficient.

    • Battery:

      • Inspect the battery terminals for any corrosion or loose connections.

      • Ensure the battery is charging correctly.

  3. Interior:

    • Steering:

      • Test the steering to ensure it feels smooth and there are no unusual sounds or resistance.

    • Horn:

      • Ensure the horn is working properly.

    • Seat Belts:

      • Check that all seat belts are functioning correctly and are free of damage or fraying.

    • Dashboard Warning Lights:

      • Check for any warning lights on the dashboard and address issues promptly.

    • Fuel:

      • Ensure the vehicle has enough fuel for the journey and check fuel efficiency.

    • Emergency Equipment:

      • Ensure there is a functioning fire extinguisher, first-aid kit, and warning triangle in the vehicle.

    • Heating and Air Conditioning:

      • Test the air conditioning and heating systems to ensure they are working properly for passenger comfort.

Final Test Drive Check:

Before starting the shift:

  • Perform a short test drive to ensure smooth operation.

  • Check for unusual noises, vibrations, or handling issues.

  • Test acceleration, braking, and steering in real-world conditions.
